The AI infrastructure race is reaching numbers that used to belong to national infrastructure projects.
A Financial Times report carried by Reuters says SpaceX is seeking roughly $40 billion in financing for Nvidia AI chips, including bank loans and investment-grade debt.
If completed on the reported terms, the deal would be another example of how the AI boom is increasingly being financed through enormous pools of outside capital rather than ordinary corporate spending.
The report had not been confirmed by the companies when Reuters published. That means the financing should be treated as reported, not finalized.
Are AI companies building a durable infrastructure boom — or taking on extraordinary financial risk to stay in the race?
